Sacrament of Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month at 1:00 p.m. It is highly recommended that parents contact the parish office at least two months in advance of the birth of their child. Parents are obliged to participate in our Baptismal Preparation Program.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

The R.C.I.A. is a process for an unbaptized adult to be prepared and received into the Roman Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation.

R.C.I.A. also provides formation for those adults who were baptized in the Catholic Church but were not raised in the faith and have not completed their initiation by receiving the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation, as well as those baptized in other Christian traditions who are uncatechized and wish to become members of the Roman Catholic Church.

Sacramental Preparation for Children
Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation

Registration, preparation, and celebration of these sacraments take place through the parish church (not the school) that the child attends. Parents who wish their children to receive these sacraments must register at the church at the times provided on the letter to parents, the school newsletters and the bulletin to complete a home-based program. The ongoing instruction in the Catholic faith which the children receive in the home, the Catholic School or in the Parish Home Catechism Program is foundational for the immediate sacramental preparation for Reconciliation,Eucharist, and Confirmation. Children celebrate the sacraments in the parish where they are registered and normally worship.

Sacramental Preparation for Children attending Public or Private Schools
Parish Home Catechism Program (P.H.C.P.)

The Parish Home Catechism Program is a catechetical program for children in grades 1 to 8 who are not receiving regular instruction in their faith in a Catholic School.

Children attending public, private or alternative schools are required by the Archdiocese to participate in this program in order to be prepared to celebrate the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
Children registered in the P.H.C.P. meet at St. John the Evangelist Church in the Parish Centre on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a formal class (Gr. 1-6 bi-weekly; Gr. 7-8 weekly) from September to May.
Dates for Parish Home Catechism Program:  Grades 1-6 , Grade 7&8. Instruction in the faith is furthered with home assignments and with participation at Sunday Eucharist. Registration is announced in the bulletin in September or you can contact Nina Veltri-Sampogna (905) 665-7110.

Sacrament of Marriage

The Archdiocese of Toronto requires that you contact your parish priest at least one year in advance of the planned date of your wedding and that you participate in a Catholic Marriage Preparation Course.

Visitation to the Sick

Please notify the Rectory Office when a member of your family is seriously ill and/or would like to receive Communion or the Sacrament of the Sick.
